Social Justice Cafe: Forced Prison Labor and Convict Leasing
Join us as we explore the history of convict leasing and prison labor in Alabama and across the United States. Dr. Victoria Westmont, Assistant Professor in the UAB Department of Anthropology, will lead the conversation and provide her expertise on this subject, along with Barry McNealy, BCRI’s Historical Content Expert, and Tyler Malugani, Education Coordinator at Sloss Furnaces National Historical Landmark.
