BCAP (Birmingham Cultural Alliance Partnership)


The Birmingham Cultural Alliance Partnership (BCAP) is a collaborative project of seven of the city's major museums and the public library to provide after-school learning opportunities designed to enhance the cultural literacy and academic achievement of students and their parents. The purpose of the project is to create a postitive community learning environment that will enhance student achievement, increase student participation in enrichment activities, involve families in learning and enrichment activities and build partnerships between the school and community organizations.  BCAP Partners include Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame, Birmingham Botanical Garden, Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, Birmingham Museum of Art, Birmingham Public Library, McWane Science Center and Vulcan Park & Museum. 
BCAP is administered by the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute with funding from the Alabama State Department of Education - 21st Century Community Learning Center and the Birmingham City School At-Risk Commitee (2010-2011).
