Celebrate Black History month during February with a visit to BCRI. The theme of this year's Black History month is "At the Crossroads of Freedom and Equality: The Emancipation Proclamation and the March on Washington." The theme highlights two important anniversaries in the history of African Americans and the United States: The 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation and the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington. Along with regular tours and outreach programs,BCRI will celebrate these seminal events with the following:

The Helen Keller Art Show of Alabama: Through February 24.Features works by Alabama students who are visually impaired, blind or deaf-blind. Vann Gallery.

February 7: FREE Screening of "Soundtrack for a Revolution" BCRI and Carlton Reese Memorial Choir host a screening of the documentary film, "Soundtrack for a Revolution." BCRI - 6:00 pm. Woods Community Meeting Room.

February 21: Black History Month Program

BCRI will feature a program commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation. 6 pm Woods Community Meeting Room. FREE
