Ways To Give

Donations

The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute was founded to:

Enlighten each generation about civil and human rights,

Explore our common past, and

Work Together in the present to build a better future.

With present-day threats to the historic gains made for civil and human rights, the role of the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute remains essential to sharpening our modern-day focus.

What happened in Birmingham changed the world. The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute is committed to preserving and honoring those who put their lives on the line for the freedoms we all enjoy today. As stewards of our nation’s civil and human rights history, we know that individuals and communities can prevail. The courage of our communities will continue to inspire us to bring about change and maintain human dignity for all.

Your donation helps the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute to:

  • Preserve the Birmingham civil rights story
  • Create programs that encourage cultural awareness and engagement
  • Champion civil and human rights by facilitating an atmosphere of dialogue and understanding
  • Be a good steward of archival and financial resources

Thank you in advance for joining with us through your generous donation.

Matching Gifts

If your employer has a matching gift program for 501c3 organizations, please follow their internal process for matching your charitable contribution to the BCRI. BCRI will work directly with the employer to process the donation.

Gifts of Historical Artifacts

The BCRI’s collection includes periodicals, records, and documents relating to events that occurred during the civil rights struggle and continuing movements for human rights – as well as artwork of historical significance. A large part of this collection was acquired by gifts, and we welcome contributions that can enhance the Institute’s ability to fulfill its mission.

If you wish to make a gift toward our collection and archives, please contact Wayne Coleman.
